After graduating from the Department of Design at Tokyo Zokei University, Momoko Tanabe worked as a designer for a stationery manufacturer before pursuing ceramics. She studied under ceramic artist Harutoshi Nonaka, then trained at the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Technical School and later studied under ceramic artist Masaya Kato in Seto.
In 2002, she established Momo-gama, her ceramic studio and kiln, in Yamato, Kanagawa. With “vessels for the family” as her guiding theme, she creates everyday tableware inspired by plants, picture books, animals, and the things she encounters in daily life—pieces that bring a little more joy to everyday moments.
